Take Part in Our COVID-19 Photography Project

St. Joseph Mercy Livingston Emergency Room Physician, Dr. Alan Sielaff is a photographer in his spare time. As a way to honor the health care colleagues he works alongside every day, Dr. Sielaff is offering colleagues and medical staff an opportunity to have a professional photo taken to give everyone a face and a voice to this pandemic. He has modeled this project after one done at Mt. Sinai; and after permission from the original photographer, decided to emulate her work for our family at St. Joesph Mercy Livingston. Examples of what the photos may look like can be viewed here:

Participation is completely optional, and all participants will receive a digital copy of their photo(s). The photos may also be used in Saint Joseph Mercy Health System marketing and Dr. Sielaff’s portfolio with permission from the colleague.

Photographs will take place the following days and times in the St. Joseph Mercy Livingston Boardroom:

•    January 10 from 8 a.m. to noon

•    January 11 from 8 a.m. to noon.

•    January 12 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

These photos are unique to each individual and you may dress however you’d like. Mask on, mask by your chin, white coat, scrubs, anything and any way you feel represents you the best. If you’d like to take at photo with a colleague or friend, that can be arranged as well as long as you both come to the same slot.

Dr. Sielaff would also like you to consider adding a one-two line quote you’d want to share about your work during the pandemic to go along with your photo. This may be what drives you to continue working, an inspirational encounter, how you find strength to continue this work, anything you’d want to say as a part of our community about working during the pandemic. Please email him directly with your quote or thought to be included with your photo.

It is our hope that we can print and display these photos and give a face and voice to all our staff who have worked tirelessly through this pandemic. Photos should only take a few, minutes.

If you are unable to make one of the times but want to participate, for example night shift or cannot step away for a slot; please email Dr. Sielaff directly at alan.sielaff@envisionhealth.com or contact him at 616-890-5487 as he will make every effort to include anyone that wants to participate!
